Frugal Tips

  1. Use cloth diapers and wipes when you have infants/toddlers in the house.
  2. Use Netflix, Redbox or other such services for movies.
  3. Cut your cable addiction.
  4. Make more or all meals from scratch.
  5. Use meat as an accent to your meal instead of the star.
  6. Shop your local bread store. I often find whole grain bread for $.50 a loaf.
  7. Make your own clothes detergent and soften clothes with vinegar.
  8. If you own a Kindle or other ebook reader look for free or super cheap books. (I haven't bought a book for my Kindle in 3 mos but have had new books to read each week.)Pixel of Ink is my favorite site to use.
  9. Install and use a clothes line to dry your clothes in the summer and fall months.
10. Instead of buying a really expensive gift for birthdays/holidays give a handmade or small meaningful gift.
11. When filling up hand soap dispensers use $1.00 shampoo instead of the more expensive refills. I also fill the dispenser 1/2 full with water and then add the soap.
12. We don't eat out with out coupons and only then when it is a special occasion.
13. To get the most out of my grocery dollars I shop the produce section first, dairy, meats and then head to the middle of the store for misc. items.
